C4X Discovery is a rapidly growing biotechnology company with a focus on ligand-based drug discovery. Using a unique proprietary NMR-based technology, C4X Discovery is able to determine the 3D structures of biologically important molecules. This technology is being used to develop a portfolio of drug discovery projects. The Company recently completed a successful fund-raising and listing on the Aim market of the London Stock Exchange, and has successful partnerships with AstraZeneca, Takeda and Evotec.

C4X Discovery is seeking a self-motivated, adaptable Chemist to join a dynamic and expanding team. The role requires in depth chemistry knowledge and scientific expertise, and will contribute essential elements of project delivery at C4X Discovery.

Role Summary

Primary duties and responsibilities will include:

  • supporting the drafting of grant applications, patent applications and peer reviewed scientific publications
  • managing interactions with chemistry and biology service providers to facilitate compound synthesis and testing in the UK and overseas
  • establishing and maintaining a database of chemical and biological data
  • teamwork within a group of highly skilled scientists

Qualifications for the Role

The ideal candidate will have:

  • a chemistry degree with at least 5 years experience gained in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, or a Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry coupled with at least 3 years experience gained in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, however, the Company will consider applicants with less years' experience with these sectors
  • experience in the use of database software designed for the organisation of chemical and biological data
  • contributed directly to the publication of peer reviewed papers and patent applications
  • experience in managing outsourced activities in either chemistry or bioscience
  • excellent team-working skills
  • excellent organisational and communication skills

C4X Discovery is seeking a self-motivated, adaptable Medicinal Chemist to join a dynamic and expanding team.

The position

The R&D division at C4X Discovery is looking to identify and recruit an experienced Medicinal Chemist with a record of drug discovery and innovation. The ideal candidate will have:

  • a track record of influencing projects in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company;
  • positively impacted drug discovery in either lead identification or lead optimisation projects;
  • experience in property based drug design, with a good working knowledge of ADME properties;
  • experience in interrogating and analysing multi-parameter data-sets;
  • experience in utilising 3D structural data, including the use of 3D visualisation techniques and software, both in analysis and design;
  • enthusiasm for new technologies and methods of undertaking drug discovery;
  • a strong track record of creative thinking when identifying innovative solutions to problems;
  • excellent team-working skills with experience of working in multidisciplinary teams;
  • excellent organisational and communication skills;
  • a publication record in medicinal chemistry.
